To increase and retain the number of African Americans in leadership roles in private, non-profit, and public sectors.

PROXY INDICATOR

The number of African Americans in the Milwaukee area with an annual salary of $90,000 or greater increases by 10%.

TARGET

10% increase* = 455 people whose incomes increase about $90K threshold

AALAM STRATEGIC FOCUS AREAS

RESULT: Increase and retain the number of African Americans in leadership roles in private, non-profit and public sectors

AALAM has developed and, in partnership with P3 Development Group, implemented five strategic focus areas under the goal of making Milwaukee a place where African Americans can live and thrive.

NETWORKS:

Increase the opportunities for African American leaders to access diverse professional and other networks to better identify job and professional opportunities.

HUMAN RESOURCE DIVERSITY CAPACITY BUILDING:

Connect human resource (HR) recruiters and professionals to African American talent in our community and build HR professionals’ capacity around diversity, equity and inclusion.

NARRATIVE CHANGE:

Advocate to local, state, regional tourism and talent focused agencies to segment current marketing efforts and increase budgets for marketing that targets African Americans employees and visitors. Partner to change the perception of African Americans in local media stories and reporting.

LEADERSHIP PROGRAMMING:

Create career pathway programming, provide professional development opportunities, and develop a consultant pipeline for African American leaders.

CEO ENGAGEMENT:

Gain commitment from local CEO’s to take a visible stand on issues important to the African American community.
