Chauntel McKenzie named Director of Marketing and Development

MILWAUKEE (June 13, 2023) The board of the African American Leadership Alliance of Milwaukee (AALAM), along with its President and CEO, Walter Lanier, is proud to announce the expansion of their leadership team with the addition of Chauntel McKenzie as their Director of Marketing and Development. Chauntel will begin her work in June 2023 under the direction of the President and CEO, and in collaboration with the entire AALAM Team (Board and Staff) to meet the marketing, development, revenue, and organizational partnership goals set for AALAM’s annual and long-term resource needs. Her primary responsibilities will include the organization’s marketing, fundraising, and stakeholder relationship development, as well as collaboratively framing and executing external communications.

Prior to joining AALAM, Chauntel was contracted as the first Chief Operating Officer and Marketing Manager of America’s Black Holocaust Museum. She is an award-winning executive and organizational development professional with over 20 years of experience as a Global Business Leader and Strategist. Chauntel is also the founder and Principal Strategist of The PowHER Network. Founded in 2015, the PowHER Network is a social architecture and business consulting firm focused on marketing, fundraising, organizational development, public relations, and large-scale event planning.

Chauntel is passionate about utilizing the knowledge and experience she’s acquired throughout her career to curate more positive outcomes and opportunities in the lives of African Americans and all residents living and working in Milwaukee and its surrounding areas. She is quoted as saying, “The vision and mission of AALAM line up so perfectly with my commitment to make Milwaukee a place that every resident can thrive in and is proud to call home.” In the last three years, Chauntel has been awarded a Gubernatorial Commendation, Mayoral Proclamation, and several Milwaukee Common Council citations for her impact on economic development in the state of Wisconsin and minority owned businesses and non-profits. Chauntel was honored by the Milwaukee Business Journal as a 2022 Woman of Influence, is an active community volunteer, and is a proud mother.
